THE GREY AREA
Many believe that there are grey areas between light and darkness, between things of the Spirit and those of the flesh. The area intermediate between two mutually exclusive states where the border between the two is fuzzy, so is the term defined. Every human reasonings of the Spirit-inspired scriptures will always create the grey areas in which we so choose to live by. Many believe that there are some other ways (proffered by some religious groups) through which man may enjoy an eternal ending in the presence of the Divine being. It is the grey area that give room for such declarations and pronouncement of glorious exiting of departed souls who knew not the Way. It is the grey area that makes “anointed” leaders of denominations proclaiming the Way and yet indulge in “secret and shameful deeds,” “maneuvering and manipulating behind the scenes” and “twisting God’s Word to suit themselves.” Nothing but the grey area will make the followers of such leaders explain away such atrocities observed in their “father in the Lord” for the sake of “protecting the anointing.” It is the grey area that brought about the classification of lies: the acceptable and unacceptable tweaks to truths, white lies and the black ones, individual, business or corporate lies. It is still this area that rules in favor of “majority carries the day”, giving place to such dangerous idealogies among christians of “if you can’t beat them, better you join them” and “God is not wicked as to allow men spend eternity in hell” Grey areas create room for human views and tradition of men to be taught as doctrines.
In spite of these grey areas, the Scripture is clear:
- “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” (John 14:6)
- Do not try to work together as equals with unbelievers for it cannot be done. How can right and wrong be partner? How can light and darkness live together? (2 Cor. 6:14)
- But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars - they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulphur. (Rev. 21:8)
- Do you think their faithlessness cancels out His fathfullness? Not on your life! Depend on it: God keeps to his word even when the whole world is lying through its teeth. Scripture says the same: Your words stands fast and true; Rejection doesn’t faze you…” (Rom3:3-4)
Lingering in the grey area is deadly. Believe in the simplicity and veracity of His words. Let the understanding He grants by his wisdom and revelation inform your decision to live in the Light. The grey areas are but an illusion and the conception of the human mind.
