Righteousness is a state, feeling or way of life that is all about doing the right thing as required by an authority. When the authority, be it government, management or society, prescribes whether, verbally or in writing, laws, codes of conducts, rules and regulations or policies to guide conducts, relationships or processes and those whom these laws are binding upon choose to do, observe or following these laws, they are said to be righteous. Let me share this experience I had with a highway police officer at checkpoint. The officer requested for the vehicle documents which I gave to him with an air of “a good law abiding citizen.” He checked for the fire extinguisher, caution sign etc which I proudly showed him. Little did I know that one of my papers had expired. He then told me that my papers were not complete of which I retorted asking which other paper was I supposed to have that was not provided.
