THE LAST CHURCH 4

Lastly, we will look at the matter of the rewards. We will be quick to note a recurring decimal in all the letters to the churches as regards the rewards- "...to him that overcomes..." Rewards are for those who are be able to overcome their shortfalls as pointed out by the Lord. Remember, the obstacle to overcome here in Laodicean church is the matter of not realizing their true state. How difficult can that be? Oh yes, by his grace we are more than overcomers we would say. One issue with grace is not in its availability but in it abuse, misuse or frustration. In Galatian 2:21 Paul said, "I do not frustrate the grace of God. This is what the church does these days- they set aside, make void, repudiate, reject the grace despite its abundance. The reward promised to those that overcome, a most desired and sought out reward even right from the times of the first disciples. This is an indication of it being the highest honour any christian can attain and also how diffi...

THE LAST CHURCH 3

Thirdly, the matter of His counsel to the church. "...buy from me... " is his invitation for a transaction. To buy means to obtain (something) in exchange for money. How do we buy and at what cost?' He said."...he that had no money, come ye, buy and eat, yea come buy wine and milk without money and without price. (Isaiah 55:1)  The Lord's transactions are done not with money neither is there a price because they are actually priceless. Then with what can one transact with the Lord? What do I have that could ever be of worth to the Lord? The Lord had asked us a  pertinent question we all should consider. Mark 8:36-37 says "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? From this, we have an idea (which I must say is nothing near) to the value God places on one soul. If it were humanly possible for a man to be given the whole world in exchange for his soul, such ...

THE LAST CHURCH 2

The second issue the Lord addressed in this letter is the state of self-sufficiency   in which the last church has found itself. The profound and salient error the church has made here is in  self - assessment . "You say...," (Rev.3:17).  Not I, the Lord, but you are the one saying that.  What is the church saying about itself today?   "...I am rich and well off; I have all I need" I was once taught a figure of speech that says " as poor as a church mouse," but I wonder how applicable this is in this generation. You can't even teach your child that and not get a sharp refutation. This church age has been the wealthiest of them all and is ranked as a multi-billion-dollar business. The CEOs (alias General Overseers) run ministries by their greed, making a profit off people by saying anything that sounds good to exploit them. The extravagant and opulent lifestyle of these men, all in the name of ministry, has brought so much reproach to the Lord. -  ...

THE LAST CHURCH (PART 1)

Revelation 3:14-23 In letters to the churches in Asia, Christ, in strong and clear terms, declared his full knowledge of what was going on in all the churches. To those who have virtues worthy of praise, he acknowledged and encouraged; to those who had lost or are losing certain qualities, he upbraided and admonished. He then sets rewards for those who will remain faithful unto the end. I believe the last church our Lord wrote to, the Church of Laodicea, was not arbitrarily set there as the last but divinely placed to reveal the state and characteristics of the church at the end of days. The first issue the Lord raised was on passion . "...you are neither cold nor hot", he said. You are not without passion for the Lord, but still, your passion is not palpable!  "...this people do draw near me with their mouth and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me and their fear towards me is taught by the precept of men" (Isaiah 29:13). ...
