TWO MASTERS

"No man can serve two masters...." (Matt 6:24)

SPIRIT vs FLESH
The flesh also referred to in the scripture as SELF, or HUMAN NATURE, or OLD MAN, or SIN (singular) is a master. It is the master that reigns, governs and rules over everyone born of a woman. No man is born free. We were born slaves unto a master called self, and it is still very much the ruler in many lives. Flesh/self reigns unchallenged in the lives of all unbelievers, while his reign in the life of a believer is being challenged by a new master who came at the point of regeneration - the Spirit.

"for sin shall no longer be your master..."Rom 6:14 NIV

The believer, therefore, needs to make a choice on who to obey

"...you are slaves to the one you obey" Rom 6:16 NIV

No one can obey human nature and at the same time be obedient to the Spirit. It is impossible because the two masters are ALWAYS contrary to one another.

"For the Flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit and the Spirit what is contrary to the Flesh" Gal5:17.

As a Christian, who is governing your life?

"For as many as led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Romans 8:14

GOD vs MONEY
"...You can not serve both God and money" Mat 6:24

Many do not know that money is a master. It is a master that seeks control over our lives by the great and wonderful promises of what it claims it can do for us, just as God has made to us precious promises. Money says, "I will provide food on your table, pay your bills, guarantee your security and good health, and afford you a life of ease and comfort." Money has promised many church leaders, saying, "If you seek me, I will build the biggest cathedral for you and tastefully furnish it." The church is in an age where the warning given to the Laodicean church should sound the loudest. (Rev 3:14-19) Money and wealth are now the yardstick for spirituality. Many have " exchanged the glory of the immortal God for "man-made object (money and all it can buy) (Rom1:22). Are you amongst those in churches who feign love for God and render much services unto His name, only to get His blessing? Do you serve God as the Creator or to receive His created things? You are only trying to serve two masters - an impossible task.
