GOD’S LANDLORD: The contrite and the humble
… I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit. ( Isaiah 57:15) Being humble is one of the most important keys to Christ-like living. The text above, along with several other passages in the Bible, emphasises the importance of this virtue in our lives and relationship with God. Proverbs 3:34 and 1 Peter 5:8 say God opposes the proud but gives grace (help) to the humble. Our Master Jesus exemplified to us what true humility is and goes on to charge us to learn from Him (Matt. 11:29). Paul equally charged the Christians in the book of Philippians that their attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus, who, from the highest exalted position of God, came to the meanest of death as a man. The virtues of contrition and humility are what we should all learn and continually desire, as God does not overlook them.
